Hi Daniel, Thank you for these fascinating reflections. Will re-read and ponder. I gather you do not recommend reading Home's book? The title is so enticing 😅

Haha - yes, I was enticed to request a review copy as soon as I saw it last year... I'll share some more detailed thoughts in a couple of weeks (it's officially published on July 20), but the short version is that it distorts things – apparently to generate interest. No doubt it will succeed in that respect, but it doesn't deserve the sort of review it received on this blog (which repeatedly says "buy it"): https://www.3-16am.co.uk/articles/stewart-home-s-fascist-yoga

Too bad. As you show in this post, much can be said on the subject without necessarily distorting the facts.

Thanks for an insightful, nuanced take on this subject. ‘We might be wrong’ - a revolutionary idea! Hope you are well.

Thank you, Anna - glad you enjoyed it! I have to credit Hamish Hendry for that insight - he talks about it here: https://www.jbrownyoga.com/yoga-talks-podcast/2023/1/hamish-hendry

All's well here, thanks - I hope with you too. Look forward to catching up again soon - perhaps another library cuppa some time?

Might be interesting to have Mr Home as a guest on your podcast.

The tone of his book suggests reasoned dialogue may not be the outcome of such an exchange.

Having called my own substack Anticapitalist Yoga I am quite intrigued with the book by Stewart Home! Although the fact he only practised yoga in a "local gym" suggests the author might not be fully aware of "the premise that we might be wrong" ... 😅

LOL - he certainly sounds rather "sure of himself"... Frankly, his book is misleading and will get more attention than it deserves.
