Hmmm… after listening to this conversation and hearing Jessica say more than once that she is not a practitioner of either yoga nor meditation - did I hear this right??? WOW…
I can’t imagine how one can talk, study and write about the potential of the yoga path and its impact or benefits for brain plasticity…???
Don’t we as practitioners know how it can work because we experience it again and again in the simultaneous immersion into all ends of our body during practice or in the endless depth of existence during meditation?
Yes, the ancient scriptures tell it all but how can we today keep talking about those if we don’t feel into it?
Is this what’s meant to be jñana yoga - can it stand alone?
Thanks for asking, Susanne - I think what she meant is that she doesn’t practise postures or sit in silence. Devotional yoga and self-inquiry might still be feasible without doing either. And the whole philosophy of Sāṃkhya on which Patañjali’s framework is based presents no practical method as such - it’s about knowing the true self. Some Vedānta schools are similar. So I think it would be possible to know about transformative outcomes by other means.
