Always fascinating! Some tips regarding stiff joints: Fasting regularly on water or juice and also eating an alkaline diet will most likely cure stiff joints (unless bone structure has deteriorated) and arthritis. An alkaline diet is plant based mostly, and the best definition for that is "food that is easy to digest," which are fruits and vegetables. More acidic are grains, beans, etc and the most acidic are meats, fish, eggs, cheese. At 69, I am in better shape in terms of my joints than at 50 thanks to this change in diet. Stress will also effect the gut. But scientifically fasting induces autophagy (self-cleaning cell) and mitophagy (renewed cellular energy), so that inflammation can thus heal. This has been my work for the past 14 years at prama.org. (I have seen many avoid the knife by doing this.) Thus lemon water, which is acidic, has an alkaline effect. It is not how acidic the food is, but how it effects digestion and absorption. Traditionally yogis would fast on ekadashi, and even on amavasya and purnima which of course helped them stay limber.
